THA speaking about Healthy Buildings for Children at the National Coalition for Campus Children’s Centers 38th annual conference November 8th, 2010.

THA’s Todd Howard AIA, LEED AP, and Mike Wells AIA, NCARB, Todd Howard and Mike Wells will describe how to design, construct and maintain environments for children that promote health and support developmentally appropriate practice in child care settings the National Coalition for Campus Children’s Centers 38th annual conference November 8th, 2010. Todd and Mike will discuss the new and growing body of scientific research connecting the dots between (un)healthy environments and (un)healthy children. Young children, especially infants, toddlers and preschool-aged children, with their rapidly developing minds, bodies and immune systems, have the highest susceptibility to exposure from toxins commonly found in buildings. The impact of the built environment can be seen in an alarming increase in chronic and lifelong health issues such as obesity and diabetes, asthma, autism and others.
