Education Practice Leader

We have an immediate opening for an Education Practice Leader with a minimum of (10) years of
K-12 experience.

In this senior level position reporting directly to the President of the firm, this person will manage the
direction and strategic growth of the education practice. This thought leader for th+a will be responsible
for implementing the firm’s vision within the organization by helping establish protocol and procedures
for the education studio as well as making sure our core tenants manifest themselves in our designs.
Externally, this individual will implement th+a’s vision by providing leadership in the community, the
profession, and the firm.

Duties include but not limited to :

  • Management of the education practice and studio team members
  • Collaboration with practice leaders of studios within the firm to advance firm growth
  • Maintaining relationships with current clients
  • Oversee the production efforts of the studio in producing high quality design and
  • documentation of educational projects
  • Advance the firm’s reputation of delivering excellence in the educational sector
  • Oversee the professional development of staff
  • Participate in presentations, client meetings, and attend other public hearings/meetings

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in architecture; MArch preferred
  • Licensed to practice in the state of Texas
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with focus in education (K-12; university work a plus)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, and Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Knowledge of rendering software a plus
  • Experience directing, mentoring, and coordinating work efforts of junior staff
  • Demonstrated experience in managing all phases and aspects of a project
  • Solution-oriented, self-motivated, and self-starting
  • Occasional travel required
  • Participation at industry conferences

 

Architectural Associate & Design Professional

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Develop design concept of buildings and spaces in 2D/3D, translate them into plan, elevations, sections and perspective view drawings, and create design presentations using freehand sketches, and 2D/3D modeling and rendering software, including Building Information Modeling (BIM) using Revit, AutoCad, Photoshop, Illustrator, 3D Studio Max, and SketchUp
  • Assist in design and concept development requiring expedited concept development and document production
  • Analyze sketches, photographs, notes, and site survey of existing conditions & other input material to determine best approaches for completion of drawings to solve technical issues of design in relation to site conditions and building structure
  • Translate clients' functional and spatial requirements into feasible design solutions, integrating projects into site context, responsive to prevailing regulatory, environmental and economic conditions; incorporating sustainable design principles
  • Assist in organizing coordination meetings with clients and consultants
  • Coordinate with vendors to translate designs into material selection for manual presentation packages
  • Assist in coordinating to obtain approvals from clients and state and local agencies having jurisdiction over projects
  • Assist in coordinating with civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection (MEP/FP), geotechnical, environmental, lighting, landscape, code, traffic, parking, zoning, signage, acoustic, sustainability, security, food service/kitchen, curtain wall, façade maintenance, vertical transportation, waste management and structural consultants to incorporate building systems into unified design and preparation of project drawings and specifications
  • Assist in coordinating project data and transmission of electronic communications
  • Assist in the preparation of oral and written presentations on the design and production of projects; assist in the presentation and explanation of proposals, reports and findings
  • Attend internal meetings to ensure design specifications are coordinated with drawings

Qualifications

  • Applies established interior design standards
  • Performs routine checking and/or verification tasks
  • Researches and selects colors/finishes materials
  • Prepare documentation for schematic design, design development and/or construction documents as assigned by the Project Coordinator and/or Project Manager

  • Creates visual-aids such as finish material boards or PowerPoint presentations in support of business development efforts
  • Performs site field surveys and documents existing conditions for import into CAD

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from an accredited college
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience
  • Exposure to interior design specifications, calculations and industry standards
  • Proficiency in Revit (required) AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Knowledge of rendering software a plus
  • Solution-oriented, self-motivated, and self-starting**

Project Architect

Duties include but not limited to :

  • Effectively lead, utilize and direct Project Coordinators, as well as ensure that ACI’s quality standards are met throughout the project
  • Assist with the initial design of projects relating to the technical aspects of construction science.
  • Translate design intent documents into design development and construction documentation packages.
  • Assist in providing full Construction Administration services including construction, site visits, preparation of field reports, answer RFIs, process change orders, shop drawing review, review/approval of contractors’ Request for Payment forms, gather lien waivers/warranty info and project close-ou
  • Mentors junior staff through leadership and example
  • Builds and maintains relationships with new and existing clients and consultants
  • Works independently to solve problems
  • Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex assignments and is expected to seek supervisory approval on proposed project plans
  • Perform peer review quality control reviews and/or obtaining peer review of documents
  • Assist in setting up project timeline, budget, permitting process and completing designated scope of work within allotted time and budget
  • Assist with proposal preparation, answering RFIs, bidding (including contractor qualifications), bid document preparation, bid evaluation and contract negotiation

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited college (MArch preferred)
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience
  • Proficiency in Revit (required), SketchUp, AutoCAD and Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Bluebeam
  • Knowledge of rendering software
